# UAS Technikum Wien
UAS Technikum Wien (opens new window) was founded in 1994 and is Austria’s only University of Applied Sciences focused solely on technical subjects. UAS Technikum Wien offers high-quality teaching, research, and training. As of December 2018, around 4,400 students are studying in 12 bachelor‘s (opens new window) and 18 master’s (opens new window) degree programs, and the number of graduates is about 11,000.
# Academics
UAS Technikum Wien offers full-time, extra-occupational, and/or distance study programs. Four degree programs are entirely taught in English. Education is based on sound science and practical experience, with a focus on imparting technical specialist knowledge and expertise. It also covers business principles and personal development. There are a number of specialist laboratories (e.g., photonics lab, simulation of smart grids, game lab, smart living lab, digital factory, etc.) to assist practical teaching and for research purposes. # Exchange Programme
Incoming exchange students from partner universities are free to select courses from different study programs and different semesters. The academic year at UAS Technikum Wien is divided into winter (September – January) and summer term (February – July). UAS Technikum Wien recommends 30 ECTS per semester, but demands that Incomings at least complete 15 ECTS per semester. The English Course Guide, which can be downloaded from the website for incoming students (opens new window), will help applicants to preselect courses. Courses taught in German language are only available for Incomings with a sufficient command of the spoken and written language, which is level B2, according to the Common European Framework of Languages.
